Product and Subscription Queries

What is prepaid service?

Prepaid is a service where you make an advance payment for using voice service and other value added services like SMS, CLIP, Call waiting etc.

How is Prepaid different from Postpaid?

In Postpaid service you pay for the usage after a monthly bill is generated giving details of the usage for the last month. In Prepaid service you make an advance payment for the usage i.e. to make calls and use data services. There are no deposits to be made for STD/ISD. These features are pre-activated. Also, you need not wait for a bill to be generated to know the usage & then pay accordingly.

What do I get at the time of subscription?

Once you have completed the initial procedure for subscription, you will be given a starter pack, this contains:

A non-activated T-SIM based Phone along with a charger.
A SIM card.
User Guide.

For Non-T-SIM Handsets

A non-activated Phone.
A starter pack with an activation card.

From where can I buy the starter pack?

You can buy the starter pack from any outlet promoting TATA Indicom products. Please carry along with you a photocopy for one of the address & identification proofs: Ration card, Voter Id, PAN card, Passport or any Photo Id with address details issued by Govt. of India as well as a recent passport size photograph.

How can I pay for a starter pack?

It depends on the payment option accepted at the outlet promoting TATA Indicom products.

What are the documents to be submitted and what are the important fields to be entered in CAF(Customer Appliaction Form)?

You can submit a photocopy for one of the address & identification proofs: Ration card, Voter Id, PAN card, Passport or any Photo Id with address details issued by Govt. of India.

All fields in the form are to be filled, however, following are the important fields to be filled in the CAF(Customer Appliaction Form):Name & Address Date of BirthProof of identification provided at the time of registration as well as a recent passport size photograph.

How do I check for the balance in my account?

As a promotional offer currently the service is offered to you free.
To check the balance in the account, please dial 12527 from your mobile phone and you will get your balance details from the IVR

How do I get the call details/bill?

In Prepaid service you will not get any bill giving details of call made & received.

Would there be an exchange scheme for handsets? OR Can I upgrade another handset?

Currently we do not have any handset upgrade option with the Prepaid service. However, in future when we decide to have the handset upgrade option, we shall announce through relevant media channels.

Can I migrate to Prepaid to Postpaid service or Postpaid to Prepaid?

As of now we do not have the option to migrate from Prepaid to Postpaid service OR from Postpaid to Prepaid service. However, in future when we plan to have this option, we shall announce through relevant media channels.

Can I change my mobile number?

Only at the time of subscription, you select from the range of numbers available at the outlet. There is no separate request you can submit to change the mobile number.

Activation and other services

How do I get the prepaid service activated?

If T-SIM handsets:
Please insert the T-SIM card into your phone and the phone will be activated once the distributor confirms that your documents are in order. You can then start using the service.

If Non T-SIM handsets:
Please scratch the activation card to reveal the 14 digit PIN number. Dial *228 from the phone and follow the instructions on the IVR. Once that is done and the distributor has checked your documents, you can then start using your service.

How do I activate STD/ISD on the handset and do I need to pay any deposit?

The STD/ISD service is already available on your phone and there is no need to for you to pay any deposit to activate the same.

How can I get roaming service activated?

The roaming service is already activated on your phone and you can roam in all the circles where TATA Indicom has  coverage. You will be able to make and receive calls as long as you have sufficient balance in your account.

What are the handsets available with your Prepaid service?

Do I own the handset once I have paid for it?

Yes, you are the owner of the handset after making the required payment.

What happens if I lose my handset?

We request you to first contact us or visit any of our public office, to suspend your account temporarily. Later you need to submit a FIR at the Public Office and our executives will help with the required procedure. You need to subscribe for a new connection completely i.e. fill up new application form, you will be given a new handset and a new number.

Is the handset insured?

Our handsets are not insured but there is manufacturer’s warranty available with every handset sold.

T-SIM Card Queries

How is T-SIM based prepaid service by TATA Indicom different from GSM SIM based prepaid service?

There is not much of a difference between them except for the technology on which the network/handsets have been designed.

Can T-SIM cards be used in GSM handsets & SIM cards be used with CDMA handsets?

You can neither use the TATA Indicom SIM card in a GSM handset nor a GSM SIM card in a CDMA handset, since they both support different technology.

Will I have a handset range to select from in case I wish to buy a T-SIM phone?

We are offering a range of models for you to choose from. You can select any of them at the time of subscription. Kindly refer to the handset options section for more details of the same. Click Here

What do I do if my T-SIM card is lost?

You need to purchase a new T-SIM card from our Public Office, please carry along with you an identity proof. You need to purchase a new starter pack, which will include a new SIM card, new number. You can retain the old handset and use the new T-SIM card.

What do I do if my T-SIM card is damaged?

You need to visit our Public Office, and carry along with you an identity proof and the damaged T-SIM card. You will have to fill up a ‘Change of T-SIM’ and a new T-SIM card will be provided. All your details will be retained and your services will be activated with the new T-SIM card.

I have taken SMS pack but when I am sending application SMS (8282, 8888 etc) am I being charged for the same?

The SMS value in the SMS pack can be used for SMS to local mobile phones only (local P2P SMS). You will be charged for all other SMS.

Do I need to maintain a minimum balance for availing of the free T2T talktime or the free SMS value?

Yes, you need to have a minimum balance of Re.1 in the core balance to avail of the free Tata to Tata talk time and the free SMS value. You also need to be in the active state to avail of this facility.

Till when can I get incoming calls?

The customer gets incoming calls as long as he is in the validity period. Once the customer moves into the grace period, he will cease to get incoming calls.

What happens in case I wish to change my handset?

For T-SIMs, the customer has to purchase a another T-SIM enabled handset from the market and simply insert the new T-SIM in the new handset. For non T-SIM phones, the customer can buy a new handset(T-SIM/ non T-SIM) and use a handset change card to change his handset.

Is this connection available on postpaid?

No, this connection is currently not available on postpaid.

Can I purchase this phone on prepaid and then shift to postpaid?

No, this service is currently not available.

I bought this phone 1 week back. Can I get this offer?

No, this offer is applicable only for new Tata Indicom subscribers.

I am an existing customer. Can I get this offer?

You will need to buy a new starter pack from the market and avail of this offer. Your number however will change.

Will I be able to receive incoming calls while I am roaming ?

Yes, the customer will be able to receive incoming calls while roaming as long as he has credit in his account as all roaming incomings calls will be charged as per the applicable tariff plan.

How do I activate/set up this service?

This service is already activated on your internet ready handset. All you have to do is purchase the data cable, follow the instructions in the accompanying CD ROM driver and installation guide and you are done!

I have purchased the handset, but did not receive the data cable?

The data cable is available separately and is not available with the handset. You can purchase the data cable at any Tata Indicom True Value Shoppe. Kindly ensure that you carry your handset with you in order to select the compatible data cable.

What are the charges for this service?

There are no activation or rental charges for this service. You will only have to pay for the usage, which is Rs. 2 Per MB of data transfer.

How to access Internet on Prepaid Mobile?

  • You will need a data cable to connect your laptop/desktops to your internet ready mobile handsets in order to access the internet.
  • Data cables need to be purchased separately and are available at all QSO/FSO outlets.
  • An installation software CD would be given free of cost with the data cable.

  1. Subscription for this offer is available for individual subscribers only. Non-individual subscribers and Public Call Office (PCO) operators are not eligible to avail of this offer. The subscription for this offer is available only for new mobile connections applied for during the validity period of this offer.
  2. Limited period offer. No refunds will be allowed.
  3. Go Mobile offer is available only on select handset models as specified from time to time by Tata Teleservices Limited (TTSL)/Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) Limited (TTML), purchased through dealers authorized by TTSL/TTML from time to time. TTSL/TTML will not be responsible for handset damage or loss. This offer is available without the handsets also
  4. As a part of of Go Easy Plus Offer,
    1. Free talk time of Rs.1/-.
    2. Initial validity of 6 month.
    3. To carry forward the balance in the core account, beyond the initial validity period, the customer needs to recharge his account with a voucher having a validity period

    1. The customer gets Rs.20 initial talk time and lifetime validity from the first call date

  8. After the initial free talk time is exhausted, the subscriber needs to buy a recharge card to make outgoing calls and the tariffs as applicable / associated to that particular Recharge Card, from time to time to such recharge card would apply.
    1. The maximum validity of the tariff plan applicable to a customer is limited to the validity of the recharge card last used by a customer
  9. The tariff applicable on the unused balance will be the same as that of the starter pack being used, as given overleaf
  10. The tariffs currently available under various other recharge cards have also been given overleaf for ready reference of subscribers and those are not part of the Go Mobile offer. Such recharge cards may be withdrawn; or tariffs or terms and conditions associated with those may be modified or new recharge cards may be introduced by TTSL/TTML and from time to time at its sole discretion.
  11. To the extent permitted under applicable rules and regulations, TTSL and TTML reserve the right to withdraw and/or alter any of the terms and conditions of the Go Mobile offer from time to time without prior notice.
  12. Provision of the services is subject to terms and conditions as prescribed in Customer Application Form and other documents signed and furnished by customer(s). Some service features which are available to subscribers under other prepaid plans/schemes/offers may not be available to subscribers registering under this offer.

Current Terms and Conditions for Recharge Cards:

  1. Subscribers recharging with the Rs.50/Rs.100 will be charged as per call charges associated with last RCV
  2. Subscribers recharging with the Rs. 79/10,25,150,283,563 recharge cards will be charged as per tariffs associated recharge cards.
  3. Subscribers recharging with the Rs.30 promotional SMS recharge card will get Rs.600 worth of free local SMS valid for 30 days from the recharge date, subject to the following
    1. Any SMS service for Premium/Special rate services will not be eligible under this card. For any other premium/special rate service, the subscriber will be charged as per the tariff associated with that service
    2. The tariff plan associated with starter pack being used shall be applicable to utilization of the available SMS value and the SMS value will reduce accordingly
    3. If the SMS value is utilized prior to the expiry of the validity period, the customer will be charged for further local SMS usage as per the tariff plan associated with the starter pack being used
    4. The customer must be in an active state and will have to maintain a minimum credit balance of Re.1 to avail of the SMS value
  4. Subscribers recharging with the Rs.50 /68promotional Tata to Tata recharge card will get Rs.150 worth free calls to local Tata phones (Mobile and Fixed) valid for 30 days subject to
    1. The tariff plan associated with starter pack being used shall be applicable to utilization of the available talk time value and the talk time value will reduce accordingly provided the customer does not recharge with any of the tariff change vouchers, currently Rs.1500
    2. If the customer chooses to recharge with the tariff change vouchers, the tariff plan associated will be applicable on the available unutilized talk time value and the talk time value will reduce accordingly
    3. Subscribers must be in an active state and will have to maintain a minimum of Re.1 as credit balance to avail of the Free Local Tata to Tata Phone calling benefit referred to above
    4. Tariff as per the last Recharge card used by the subscriber will be applicable once the Tata to Tata value is fully utilized
  5. Customers recharging with the Rs.251 voucher will get the following
    1. Validity for lifetime
    2. The terms and conditions for lifetime validity are the same as listed in Point (a),(b),(c)&(d) of the Current Terms and Conditions for Go Life
    3. This recharge is available to subscribers except those on LTV
  6. The subscribers recharging with Freedom Call Voucher will be subject to the following:
    1. The Freedom Call RCV can be used by all subscribers of Tata Indicom Treupaid, except those on Go Easy Plus, Go Extra Plus and Turbo plans.
    2. This RCV will offer incoming validity for a period of 30 days from the date of recharge.
    3. The tariff benefit attached to this RCV will only be available for a period of 30 days from the date of recharge. After 30 days, the base (account profile) tariff plan will be applicable.
    4. Subscribers must be in an active state and will have to maintain a minimum of Re.1 as credit balance to avail of the Free Local Tata to Tata Phone calling benefit available with this RCV.
    5. If the subscriber recharges with any other RCV (except top-ups, SMS pack, T2T RCV), the tariff of the last recharged RCV will be applicable, irrespective of the tariff validity of this RCV and the core validity of the longer will apply.
    6. The free Tata to Tata calling is only available for local calls to Tata Indicom Mobile and Tata Indicom Fixed phones
  7. Free calls and SMSs provided pursuant to this offer are for bonafide use of the subscribers. In case of any misuse (including spamming), the connection is liable to be disconnected.
