TATA Indicom offers a world-class quality internet service through the CDMA network. The functionality is so simple that you have to connect the mobile phone to your PC or Laptop using the data cable and start using the service.
2. What are the benefits of Tata Indicom Internet on mobile Service?
Tata Indicom Internet on mobile Service offers world-class standards for wireless Internet access. The benefits are:

- No separate ISP account or subscription needed.
- Can receive and make voice calls when no active data transfer taking place.

4. Can I use my Tata Indicom Internet on mobile Service anywhere in my city / when I am on Roaming?
You can use the Tata Indicom Internet on mobile service anywhere in the city and when you are on roaming, if your mobile is roaming activated already. Tata Indicom Walky cannot be used in roaming.
5. What would be the speed? (OR) What is the maximum Internet speed I will get?
The speed will depend on a variety of factors, including the number of voice and data users in your area, and signal strength available at the time of connection and the site you are visiting. The actual connection speed can be as high as 115.2kbps, but in most real-world situations, you can expect average speeds of 30-40kbps.
6. How does my Tata Indicom mobile/Walky modem differ from a standard external modem?
Tata Indicom mobile / Walky has sophisticated communication electronics built-in, which includes a high-speed wireless data modem. Your standard external modem needs a fixed line phone connection to connect to the Internet while your mobile/walky is a wireless phone cum modem. You can also make or receive phone calls when the data connection is "dormant", without having to terminate the existing connection, and resume your session when the voice call is over.
7. What should be the signal strength to be able to use Tata Indicom Internet on mobile Service?
If you are able to make & receive voice calls from your phone, then Internet on mobile Service will work without any problem.
8. Can I use my computer’s internal modem with my Tata Indicom mobile/Walky to place a data call?
No, this facility is not available. Your Tata Indicom mobile/walky has a built in modem and is configured to communicate to the Tata CDMA 1x network only.
9. Can I connect to my existing ISP account using Tata Indicom mobile/Walky?
No. Your mobile/walky is configured to connect to the Tata CDMA 1x network only
10. What happens if I have lost my data cable, can I get another data cable?
You would have to purchase a new data cable from your nearest Tata Indicom Public Office (PO) and Company Owned Company Operated (COCO) outlets.
11. Can I subscribe to two Plans simultaneously on one connection?
No, you can only subscribe to one plan per connection.
12. Can I unsubscribe from Tata Indicom Internet on mobile Service anytime?
Yes, you can unsubscribe from using Tata Indicom Internet on Mobile service anytime.
13. What is dormancy mode?
When you are browsing the Internet, data is being sent and received over the Tata Indicom wireless network. To facilitate dual usage of phone, your phone line is freed when there is no active data transfer (Upload/Download) happening. This state is called dormancy. The advantage you get is that you can make or receive your voice calls during dormancy state. However please note, your Internet connection is still on. You can click on any key & your Internet session will go live again without redialing.
14. How do I know that my modem has gone into dormancy?
If you are using Tata Indicom Mobile/Walky, you see sending and receiving on Tata Indicom mobile/walky display showing active data transfer, this means that your phone is in active data mode. In case you don’t see Sending and receiving on Tata Indicom mobile/Walky display (You will see normal phone screen with Dormant message.) but your connection is on, then you are in dormant stage.
15. Which Operating System can Tata Indicom Internet on mobile Service can be installed?
The Tata Indicom Wireless Internet Service software supports
- Windows 98 (SE)
- Windows 2000

16. What happens if some one calls me when my Tata Indicom mobile/Walky is on a data call?
The caller will get a 'busy treatment' if your phone is actively transmitting or receiving data. However, if the phone is in "Dormant" state, you will be able to make or receive voice calls as usual.
17. Is Internet connection single user mode or multiple user modes? Or Can I connect phone onto my local area network (LAN)?
Tata Indicom wireless Internet service is meant for single user mode for standalone PC/Laptop.
You may not be able to connect through the LAN network.
18. What will be the User Name/ Password for Tata Indicom Wireless Internet Service?
Your User Name and Password will both be “internet”. Please note that User Name & Password are case sensitive.
19. I want to change my password? How do I do this?
Every Tata Indicom Internet on mobile/Walky service subscriber are provided with “internet” as the default username & password. You cannot replace the default password to any other of your choice.”
20. Can some one misuse my user id/password for accessing Internet?
We bill every subscriber based on phone CLI & not on user id/password, which is the same for all. There way no can misuse your connection.
21. Can I use Tata Indicom Mobile/Walky for both voice & data services at a same time?
You can use either voice or data at a same time i.e. while you are on voice call, though your net connection is on, you will not be able to browse web. You will get error message ‘Page Cannot be displayed’. Similarly, while you are in active data session, making or receiving voice call is not possible.
22. How is my total MB usage calculated?
MBs are calculated on the basis of sum of data transfer (both upload and download) during the whole billing cycle. However minimum chargeable unit beyond free quota (if any) in the data plan shall be 1 MB. Eg. If 250 MB is the free quota and the usage is 255.2 MB, then it’ll be rounded off to 256 MB and the customer shall be billed for 6 MB besides free 250 MBs that are included in the plan.
23. While phone goes into dormancy, will this time be counted for billing?
Yes, the dormancy time is billed.
24. When will the billing start for Internet on mobile/walky Service?
The billing starts from the date of subscription for Plan 1500. However for other plans, the billing will be based on usage. You will be billed for wireless Internet services in your regular monthly bill.
25. How will I be billed?
We will bill you concurrently with your voice plan. The Internet bill will be part of your normal bill.
26. How will I be billed if I get services plan 1500 activated in the middle of my billing cycle?
In this case, you will be billed on a pro- rata basis.
27. Can I redeem my voice minutes against Internet on mobile/walky Service?
The voice and data are two different components so you cannot redeem your voice minutes against Wireless Internet Service.
28. What is the bill cycle for Internet on mobile/walkyServices?
The billing cycle is same as your voice service, which is on a monthly basis.
29. I want to surrender Internet on mobile/walky Services, how will I be billed?
If you surrender the service during beginning, middle or end of billing month, Tata Indicom shall charge you for it on pro-rata basis.
30. Can I monitor my usage (time consumed / MBs downloaded) in between a billing cycle?
You cannot get your unbilled usage. My out going local voice service or NLD or ILD is suspended due to some issues related to billing non-payment, but I have paid data service charges, can I use data services? You will not be able to use data services if your local out going voice service is barred but you can use the same if your NLD/ILD is suspended. Once the bill is cleared, your data services will be automatically restored.
31. How many times can I request for plan migration in one billing cycle?
You can place multiple requests in the same billing cycle for migrating to another plan. However the last request received for plan migration should be at least 48 hours before your billing cycle. And this would be the final request. The new plan will be effective from the next billing cycle.
